Hans Habe’s Daughter Missing

Hollywood — The pretty teen-aged daughter of author-journalist Hans Habe and actress Eloise Hardt has been reported missing since early Monday, and police said Tuesday they suspect foul play.

Marina Elizabeth Habe, 17, was last reported seen when she left for a date. Her mother told detectives she was awakened early Monday morning by a commotion outside her West Hollywood home and saw her daughter’s car in the driveway with a man standing next to it. She said she saw the man jump into a black sedan as it sped away.

The girl’s father, who is divorced from Miss Hardt, was notified at his home in Zurich, Switzerland, and was reportedly on his way back to the United States.

Miss Habe was graduated from University High School in Los Angeles last June. She was home for the Christmas holidays from the University of Hawaii.

Detectives said they found the girl’s purse on the seat of her small, foreign car but that her glasses, which she needed for driving, were not inside.

Miss Hardt said Marina left home Sunday afternoon to meet her date, John Hornburg, 22, at his Brentwood home.

The girl and Hornburg later met two other couples at the Troubadour nightclub on Santa Monica Boulevard, police said. They said the couple returned to Hornburg’s home after the show and Marina left then for her home in her car about 3:15 a.m.

Officers said the blue-eyed, black-haired girl was wearing brown and white pinstriped capris, a white turtleneck sweater and a brown coat with fur-trimmed cuffs.

Marina’s mother, Miss Hardt, in her 40s, has appeared in several movies and television shows. Her most recent appearance was with Simone Signoret in “Games.”

Her father is author of “Christopher and his Father,” “The Mission,” and “A Thousand Shall Fall.”
