Hollywood — The body of a missing coed who apparently was kidnapped from outside her mother’s West Hollywood home was found Wednesday in heavy brush off Mulholland Drive.
The slaying victim, Marina Elizabeth Habe, 17, daughter of writer Hans Habe and actress Eloise Hardt, had been missing since early Monday.
West Hollywood sheriff’s officers listed the death as murder but declined to give any details of how she was slain.
Witnesses said the body was fully clothed and her face and head appeared unmarked.
She was wearing brown capris, a white turtle neck sweater and a brown coat with fur tip cuffs.
Autopsy to Be Performed
An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death and whether she had been sexually molested.
Investigators said Miss Habe was believed to have driven into the driveway of her mother’s West Hollywood home at 8962 Cynthia Ave. about 3:30 a.m. Monday. This apparently was when she was accosted by her abductors.
Her mother said she looked out a window and saw a black car speeding away. She did not see her daughter.
Miss Habe’s body was found under heavy brush about 30 feet down a slope in the 8800 block of Mulholland near Bowmont Drive.
Sheriff’s Lt. Norman Hamilton said it could not be determined immediately whether the girl’s body had been thrown from the roadway into the brush or whether it was carried down the slope and hidden in the undergrowth.
First clue which set off a search for the body was a purse found on a fire road off Mulholland about 2 p.m.
It was picked up by a Playa del Rey couple who were walking on Mulholland. They turned it over to police who called the girl’s mother. When shown the purse later, Miss Hardt identified it as her daughter’s.
Officers said a small amount of money was still in the purse.
